Gets Sewanee Field Hockey Nod

Jennifer Strodel
has been named Sewanee's next head field hockey coach,
according to Mark Webb, Sewanee's athletic director. "Jen
brings outstanding qualifications and energy to our field
hockey program. With her leadership, I am confident that our

- Playing in its first ever
NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships, the Centre
College field hockey team was shutout 5-0 by Lynchburg College
in a first round match, Wednesday, Nov. 7 in Lynchburg, Va.

Centre earns
historic NCAA invite for SCAC Field Hockey
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
- Following one of its best regular seasons in school history,
the Centre College field hockey team has been selected to
compete in the 24-team NCAA Division III Championship
Tournament. The Colonels (13-4) will travel to Lynchburg,
Va., to play Lynchburg College (18-4), on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at
4 p.m. Centre's appearance in the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament
is the first-ever for a SCAC school.

- DePauw
opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play in
mid-September with losses at Centre and Sewanee, but this
weekend it avenged both and, today, won its first SCAC title
with a 3-2 win over host Sewanee.

Rhodes split major awards in 2007 All-SCAC Field Hockey voting
SEWANEE, Tenn.
-
Rhodes
College’s Erin Atmar and Centre College’s Teresa Johnstone, the top two
scorers in the league, were selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) Offensive Co-Players-of-the-Year in exclusive voting by
the league’s head field hockey coaches. In that same voting, Ann
Guagliardo of Centre was named the league’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year
award and Charlie Wagner of Rhodes was tabbed as the SCAC
Newcomer-of-the-Year.

releases 2007 Field Hockey Tournament Bracket
SUWANEE, Ga. -
The SCAC office released the 2007
SCAC Field Hockey Tournament bracket today, which will be held
Friday-Sunday, Nov. 2-4 at Sewanee. Rhodes College will be the
top seed, followed by Centre College, DePauw University,
Sewaene-University of the South and Hendrix College. Hendrix
and Sewanee begin tournament play on Friday at Noon, with the
winner taking on Rhodes on Saturday at 11 a.m. Centre and
DePauw follow at 1:30 in Saturday's second semifinal match.
